Water Heat and Steeping Time
Each plant releases its aromas at its own pace. Boiling water burns the delicate parts of flowers. For linden flowers and chamomile, let the water sit for one minute after boiling. The optimal temperature reaches about 85 degrees. Mint leaves require water at 90 degrees. Pour the water gently over the plants.
Steeping Time in the Mug
Fragile flowers require patience. Chamomile sits covered for six minutes. Mint leaves open up their flavor in five minutes. Wild thyme is a denser plant. It requires seven minutes of gentle steeping. If you extend the time, the tea becomes astringent.
Keeping the Oils Under the Lid
Good oils evaporate quickly in open air. Cover the mug immediately after pouring the water. Use a simple ceramic saucer. The droplets formed on the lid hold the plant essence. At the end, let the condensation drip back into the mug. Drink the warm infusion without rushing.
